RE: Ya'll I need help!

Thanks! I'm so on the fence about this whole thing. All the guys at the barn say I'll be just fine. I was going to change my brake box, it must be generic cause I can't find a name on it and up my maintenance on the truck so that I can keep an eye on things a little more closely. Very rarely do I ever carry 3 horses, for the most part for the longer trips (not very long, 3 hrs. max) I only have 1. During the winter I'll have 2 but that's just knockin' around here at home. I"ve thought about going to an 05' truck, DH isn't on board with that just yet. He's just now warming up to the new trailer....he's not a horsey guy. Oh well.
Thanks agian!

Ya'll I need help!

Hey guys. Hope you can give me some insight. I don't have a 5th wheel per say, I do have a gooseneck HT. I've been trying to figure out if my truck can handle a newer, bigger trailer. (BTW, I'm a she, not a he, so be nice;) ) I have an 04 F250, 6.0, crew cab, 4x4, short box. After arguing with DH I went to have my truck weighed. With a full tank of gas it weighed 7660 (this was at the landfil scales) I am currently hauling a sundowner 3 horse gn with a 4 ft. short wall. I want to go to a 3 horse gn with 10 ft. LQ. :B The new trailer has an empty weight of 7764, this was it's shipping weight to the dealer. If I take 25% of that (being on the generous side) that gives me a tongue weight of 1941#. My CGVWR on the truck is 20,000# and I'm within that range, even with the trailer fully loaded. Can my truck handle this new trailer without me tearing up the rear end and wearing out my truck? :h I love my truck
